Our Program

Our program is built on three essential, interconnected areas of support: Transitional Housing, Family Support, and Life Skills & Coaching.

#1 Transitional Housing

A Safe Place to Stay. A Fresh Start for Tomorrow.

When a family faces homelessness, every day can become a struggle just to meet basic needs. It's difficult to make wise decisions about the future when you're focused on simply getting through today.

At Helping Hands, we provide safe, affordable, fully furnished transitional housing for vulnerable women and children in Ocala, Florida, giving families a place to catch their breath and begin again.

More Than a Roof Over Their Heads

Transitional housing is a temporary but supportive step between homelessness and permanent housing. It provides a stable, structured environment where families can address the challenges that led to their circumstances and develop the skills needed for independence.

Our residents receive more than housing. They become part of a caring, Christ-centered community that provides practical assistance, personal coaching, biblical discipleship, and encouragement along the way. With their immediate housing needs met, mothers can move out of survival mode and begin making thoughtful, informed decisions about their future.

#2 Family Support

Building Stronger Moms. Building Stronger Families.

Many mothers who come to Helping Hands have experienced trauma, instability, and difficult family relationships. Some never had positive parenting role models themselves, making it challenging to know how to create a different future for their children.

At Helping Hands, we pour into mothers so they can pour into their children, helping families heal, grow, and break unhealthy generational cycles.

Our Christ-centered approach includes:

  • Parenting Support: Practical coaching and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) training to help mothers understand their children's needs, build trust, and develop healthier relationships.

  • Healing & Restoration: Biblical counseling, encouragement, and support to help mothers work through past hurts and establish healthier patterns.

  • Family Discipleship: Helping mothers grow in their own relationship with God so they can guide their children toward Him.

Faith That Becomes Part of Everyday Life

Inspired by Deuteronomy 6, we encourage mothers to make faith a natural part of family life, whether sharing a meal, traveling together, starting the day, or preparing for bedtime.

Our goal is to help mothers build stronger families today and pass on a legacy of faith, love, and stability for generations to come.

#3 Life Skills & Coaching

Practical Skills Today. Greater Independence Tomorrow.

At Helping Hands, we believe lasting independence comes from learning to navigate life's challenges, not simply having someone solve problems for you. That's why we combine practical assistance with personalized, hands-on coaching that helps residents learn by doing.

Overcoming the Big Three

For many single mothers, three interconnected challenges stand between surviving and thriving:

  • Transportation: Accessing reliable transportation to get to work, school, and appointments.

  • Employment: Finding and maintaining meaningful work that provides financial stability.

  • Childcare: Securing dependable care that allows mothers to work, pursue education, and provide for their families.

We help residents address these barriers while developing essential skills in budgeting, saving, education, and everyday decision-making.

Every resident works with our team to identify needs, set goals, and develop a personalized Progress Plan. Rather than making decisions for residents, our team coaches them through conversations, real-life experiences, and hands-on repetition, helping them evaluate choices, learn from experience, and build confidence.

Accountable. Assistable. Discipleable.

Our coaching model emphasizes accountability, a willingness to receive assistance, and openness to biblical discipleship, all connected through ongoing communication.

Not Just Help for Today. Tools for a Lifetime.

Our goal is to equip women to make wise choices, overcome challenges, and build independent, stable lives long after they leave Helping Hands.
